14th SCIENCE DAY, 14.09.2018

On September 14, 2018, Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials Polish Academy of Sciences (CMPW PAN) attended the "14th Science Day", an outdoor event, at which 56 exhibitors, schools, universities, scientific institutes and cultural organizations presented their offers and accomplishments. This year's Science Day featured the opening of the Water Route in the Królowa Luiza Mine Drift. Tomasz Rożek, PhD, the host of the SONDA 2 popular science TV show was a special guest of the event. He delivered a lecture titled "Coal and water". The goal of the event was to promote the activity of scientific and research, educational, training institutions, companies, clubs and associations from Zabrze and the entire region.

Science Day promotes the most important scientific, technical accomplishments among city residents, particularly school pupils, arousing their interest in an interactive, intuitive, unconventional manner, encouraging them to learn the disciplines which may appear difficult. CMPW PAN employees who promoted their program with the "Learn with us" motto conducted interesting and impressive chemical and physical experiments.
Centre of Polymer and Carbon Material won the competition for the most interesting stand.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
