CMPW PAN TO BE A NEW NANONET FOUNDATION PATRON

The Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences has been a Patron of the Foundation of Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Support NANONET since September 2017.
The main statutory task of the Foundationis to promote modern entrepreneurship based on nanotechnology solutions and to disseminate research results in this science discipline, which has been dynamically developing in recent years.
The Foundation of Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Support NANONET started its activity in 2006, when the first Polish nanotechnology portal -www.nanonet.pl was launched.
The Foundation is part of the Polish Committee for Standardisation of Nanotechnology and Innovation. In 2011, the Foundation was granted the status of the National Contact Point for the European Platform "Nanofutures" (under the EU Seventh Framework Programme). The Foundation is also the originator, founder and leader of the Silesian Nano Cluster.

The Foundation is formed by a team of approx. 50 volunteers from all over Poland. The Foundation has the status of a Public Benefit Organisation. All funds obtained in the course of its activity are allocated to statutory tasks.
In 2008, the foundation received the "Innovative Service" award for an online course devoted to advanced technologies, NEL, at the "7th Świętokrzyskie Cooperative Exchange of New Technologies".
The Foundation took patronage over approx. 160 events related to nanotechnology in Poland and abroad. The Foundation received the "2011 Science Promoter" award for its activity in the field of science promotion.
In 2013, thanks to the Foundation, the Silesian Nano Cluster was created, which is currently the largest and the only cluster of this type in Poland.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
