PROJECT NO. 2021/05/X/ST4/00300

"New nucleobase-containing triblock copolymers: synthesis and characterization of self-assembled nanostructures"

Head of project: dr Theodoros Sentoukas

Project realization period: 30.09.2021-29.09.2022

The aim of the project is the synthesis and and physicochemical characterization of ABC methacrylate terpolymers, including: poly(carboxybetaine methacrylate)-b-poly (N, N’-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)-b-poly (adenine methacrylate) (PCBMA-b-PDMAEMA-b- PAdMA) and poly (carboxybetaine methacrylate)-b-poly (N, N’-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(thymine methacrylate) (PCBMA-b-PDMAEMA-b-PThMA). The work planned in the project is necessary to understand the self-assembly process of these copolymers and the formation of nanostructures in various aqueous solutions and their stability over time. The obtained nanoparticles can be potentially used for the development of nanocarriers for drug or protein delivery systems.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
