On 29 September 2013 the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences received the award of the President of the City of Zabrze “Zabrzańska Atena” (“The Zabrze Athena”) in the field of Medicine and Science. The awards were given during a ceremonial gala organized in the House of Music and Dance in Zabrze on account of the 91th anniversary of Zabrze being granted municipal rights. The Awards of the President of the City of Zabrze are given in the fields of Culture, Medicine and Science, and Economy and Entrepreneurship.
