PRIX GALIEN POLSKA 2015 award

Prix Galien Award

On 17 November 2015, the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences received the PRIX GALIEN POLSKA 2015 award in the category of innovative scientific discoveries.

The commission of the PRIX GALIEN POLSKA 2015 competition appreciated the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials for its research in the POLYCELL project, under which polymer carriers for thermally-controlled production and separation of skin and epithelial layers.

The award was collected by professor Andrzej Dworak, coordinator of the POLYCELL project, during a ceremonial gala in the Sheraton hotel in Warsaw.

The Prix Galien competition has been organized for 45 years, and was developed by a French pharmacist, Roland Mehl. Currently, the competition is organized in 17 countries, and since 2012 – also in Poland.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
