Events
On 21 October 2015 the students of the Chemical and Food Industry School Complex paid a visit to the Center. It was a great chance for them to see the equipment in a scientific unit, and to talk to the employees about their scientific work.
On 26 September 2015, the employees of the Center participated in Skarbnikowe Gody organized on account of the 93rd anniversary of conferring civic rights upon Zabrze. In the Fallen Heroes Park, there was held a family picnic, during which the Center employees conducted interesting and effective chemical experiments with the participation of the picnic attendees. Apart from chemical experiments, in the Center stand you could also use a stereoscopic microscope to see, among others, 3D images of carbon foams and fibers.
On 18 September 2015, the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences participated in the “XI Science Day", organized by: the Zabrze Municipal Office, the Cardiac Surgery Development Foundation and the Practical and Continuing Education Center in Zabrze. The aim of the event was the broadest and richest promotion of the activities of education, training and science and research institutions as well as firms, clubs and association not only from Zabrze, but from the whole region. The Science Day gives an opportunity to promote the fields that may seem difficult, unknown, and sometimes apparently uninteresting, in an interactive, friendly, unconventional manner among the city inhabitants, especially the school youth.
On 2 October 2015 an autumn family fair was organized in the garden of Kindergarten No. 1 in Zabrze. The main subject of the event was “Safe Kindergarteners”. The kindergarteners and their families enjoyed multiple attractions, such as interesting chemical shows prepared again by the scientific employees of the Center.
On 18 June 2015, a family fair was organized in Kindergarten No. 1 in Zabrze, in which the Center employees again demonstrated many interesting chemical experiments.
On 13 June 2015, the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences participated in the Zabrze Industriade.The stand of our institute was situated at the Guido mine, where the “Karbonia Research Center” operated on that day.The Center employees presented many interesting experiments, mainly associated with carbon.

In short
The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
