The Laboratory of Nano- and Microstructural Materials conducts tests in the field of:
• Application of living and controlled polymerization methods
• Controlled syntheses of amphiphilic polymers
• Syntheses and testing the properties of star-shaped and branched polymers
• Self-organization of amphiphilic polymers in an aqueous environment, as well as polymers with a nonlinear macromolecule structure
• Polymers reacting to environmental stimuli (“smart polymers”), especially in the aspect of biomedical applications
The laboratory teams manage the execution of or are involved in the implementation of a number of research projects, including projects funded as part of the “Innovative Economy” program, projects of the 7th EU Framework Program, Applied Research Program of the National Center for Research and Development, research projects of the National Science Center and others.

In short
The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
