CMPW PAN is trying to get the Logo “HR Excellence in Research”

HR Excellence in Research

On 8 May 2015 Prof. Andrzej Dworak, Director of the Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials, Polish Academy of Sciences  signed the letter of intent expressing willingness to adopt the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in the procedures of the functioning of the CMPW PAN as well as to applied for the right to logo HR Excellence in Research.

The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers are documents stemming from the recommendations of the European Commission dated 11 March 2005., which contain regulations concerning the principles and requirements for the role, responsibilities and powers of researchers and their employers / funders, and also the rules and requirements that should be followed by employers / funders when appointing or recruiting researchers.

Employees and Management of CMPW PAN fully share the opinion that the basis for drawing up these documents should be adopted. The implementation of the Charter and the Code, by creating an atmosphere conducive to research work and by providing stable working conditions for researchers at every stage of career, will contribute to strengthen innovation and competitiveness of research conducted at the Institute. In addition, the holding of the logo HR Excellence will undoubtedly constitute a decisive factor for a substantial increase in the attractiveness of CMPW PAN for current and potential researchers.

Following the declaration contained in the letter of intent, the  Director appointed Working Group, whose task was to analyze the compatibility of the CMPW PAN laws and principles of action affecting the area of HR with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The results of anonymous survey, conducted among the researchers of  CMPW PAN in the period 16.05.-03.06.2016, were used for analysis. The standard table of internal analysis, available on the website of EURAXESS (http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess), was used in survay.

The activities of the Working Group resulted  in  preparation of the Report which was  submitted  to  European Commission on  September 15, 2016. The Report contains a plan of corrective actions to improve the CMPW PAN policy affecting the sphere of HR, which were identified as not fully compatible with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code

CMPW PAN hopes to get the right to use the logo  HR Excellence on the basis of the Report submitted.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
