The main aim of the P2M is to promote interactions and facilitate exchange of, primarily, early career researchers with different backgrounds, ranging from catalysis, polymer chemistry and physics to theory, biochemistry and pharmacy.

The network was created in July, 2011 by academic institutions from 10 countries. It is funded by the European Science Foundation.

October 10, 2008 saw the start of the Polish-Slovak Laboratory SYNADPOL – “Synthesis and Characterization of Advanced Polymer and Biopolymer Materials” located in the Institute of Polymers of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAN) in Bratislava and in the Center of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CMPW PAN) in Gliwice and Zabrze.

The purpose of the Laboratory is to create a platform for integrating intellectual and materials resources of both institutions in order to conduct joint studies in the field of polymers and biopolymers, as well as materials obtained from them. Its establishment is a result of well-developed, fruitful Polish-Slovak cooperation with notable results, supported by agreements between both academies, as well as European programs, including the TOK NANOSTIM European project coordinated by CMPW PAN.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
