On 08.06.2019, CMPW PAN employees attended in a regular charity picnic organized by Marco, a Gliwice-based company. The goal of the picnic was to raise funds for the "Tęcza" Occupational Therapy Workshops organized by the Różyczka Foundation in Gliwice.

We are pleased to inform that M.Sc. Eng. Klaudia Nocoń, a PhD student at the Laboratory of Polycondensation Materials Engineering, the Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials (CMPW) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), won the first prize in the competition "The Best Oral Presentation" organised during the 6th "International Scientific Conference on Pervaporation, Vapor Permeation, Gas Separation, and Membrane Distillation". Title of the presentation: "Gas Transport Properties of Thermally Rearranged Co-Polyimide Membranes". The conference was held in Toruń on 14-17 May 2019.

On 28-29 May 2019, a seminar "NEXT GENERATION STRATEGIES AND INSIGHTS ON LARGE MOLECULE CHARACTERIZATION" was held at the Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CMPW PAN). On the first day of the seminar, a new look at macromolecular characterisation strategies was presented. On the second day, basic training sessions, short courses and support sessions concerning Wyatt hardware and software were held. The seminar was organised by Wyatt Technology, CMPW PAN, and Polygen. The event was attended by 43 people. Participation in the seminar was free of charge.

The CMPW PAN received a distinction from the Board of IAESTE Association for the 10-year contribution to active promotion of the exchange scheme and provision of internships for foreign students.
IAESTE is an international organisation that conducts a scheme of exchange for students of technical subjects. It operates in 80 countries. The organisation was founded in 1948 at Imperial College London in order to integrate and promote international understanding after the Second World War.

On 5 February 2019, the CMPW PAN hosted a Belgian-Polish meeting of young researchers of Ghent University and of our institute.
The purpose of the meeting was to get to know each other, present the research carried out, present achievements, exchange experiences and establish mutual co-operation between young scientists and teams of scientific units.

On January 17, 2018, Dr. Ignacio Gonzalez-Martinez second time presented the results of research carried out in the POLONEZ 2 project entitled „In- situ room temperature growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes” (grant No. 665778, European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie).

POLONEZ is a funding programme addressed to incoming researchers who may apply for 12- or 24-month fellowships in host institutions in Poland.

In short

The Center belongs to category A of scientific facilities in Poland. It was established on January 1, 2007 as a result of a merger of the Center of Polymer Chemistry of PAN in Zabrze and the Institute of Carbochemistry of PAN in Gliwice – two centers of the Polish Academy of Sciences which, for many years, had been conducting systematic work on the production and properties of macromolecular polymer and carbon materials.
